Micol Bassal, LMSW, is a licensed therapist in New York City working with individuals and couples struggling with relationship challenges, anxiety, OCD, depression, and trauma. Micol supports adults, young adults, and adolescents; and couples and families through various stages of relationship development.
Micol, a dedicated clinician, strives to build a deep and connected therapeutic alliance with each of her clients. Using empathy, insight, and skills based approaches, Micol utilizes a variety of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). With a strong emphasis on client centered approaches, Micol uniquely tailors treatment to meet the needs of each of her clients clinical goals.
Micol received her undergraduate degree at Stern College for Women at Yeshiva University with a major in Human Services. She subsequently completed her Master’s degree at Wurzweiler School of Social Work with advanced certification in trauma-informed clinical practice.
Micol began her career in community mental health, where she specialized in working with patients struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma related challenges. Within her work in private practice, she continues to support individuals and couples working through trauma, OCD, anxiety and related disorders, life transitions, and other mental health concerns across the spectrum.
Micol views each client as an expert in their own lives. She believes in the dialectic of creating space for emotional experiences, while always working towards the achievement of therapy related goals. A passionate advocate for mental health awareness both in the therapy room and out, Micol's goal is to create a space where her clients feel empowered, capable of change, and on the path to creating a life experienced as worth living.
